Mini Bears

My first mini bear (no name yet!) - they are both 3" tall only. My girl want me to make a mini bear for her to hang on her pencil case. So I attempted it. With my long finger nails, well, find it difficult to hold the fabric while sewing it. Hope to make more next time.

Still haven't given it a name. Have to wait for my girl to decide.

Queen Ovidia Bear

Meet my Queen OVIDIA - 12 " tall made of curly Mohair. She looks kind of a aristocrat with her shining nose. She has on a crystal crown and a furry shawl. She is fully jointed with screws so that her limbs is movable. I had so much fun doing all the bears in the class. Now have to take a break till August. So much things to do but hasn't done it yet...........

Hugs of Bears

Hugs of Bears from my class at spotlight. This was taken on sunday, 21 June. We had a good time looking at all the bears. Our teacher even got lots of enquiries for her classes and we also got lots of stares from the on-lookers. Guess they are all envious of us making our own furry bears. Hehehe...........

Sultana Cheese Cake

Ingredients: (Pastry)
1 1/2 cups plain flour
2 tbsp icing sugar
1/2 cup custard powder (see above for box label)
1/2 tsp baking powder
125 gm butter, chopped
2-3 tbsp milk

Ingredients: (filling)
250 gm light cream cheese
250 gm cream cheese, softened
55 gm butter
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tbsp finely grated lemon rind
2 tbsp of orange juice or lemon juice
3/4 cup sultanas

Method:
  1. preheat oven to 180 deg. Brush a non-stick baking pan of 28 x 18 cm with melted butter and dust with plain flour. This is to prevent the cake from sticking to the pan.
  2. Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl. Add butter, sugar and custard powder, rub with your fingertips until crumbly. Stir in enough milk to form a soft dough.
  3. Roll two-thirds of the pastry between 2 sheets of baking paper to make a rectangle large enouge to line the base and sides of the pan. Trim the pastry edges and prick the pastry base randomly with a fork, then bake for 10 minutes. Allow to cool a little.
  4. Filling - beat cream cheeses, butter and sugar until smooth.
  5. Add in eggs, juice and rind - beat until combines. Stir in sultanas.
  6. Pour tin the pan (into the baked pastry). Roll remaining pastry into a long rectangle, then cut into long strips. Lay strips in a lattice pattern over the cheesecake, gently press to the edge of the pastry shell and trim.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until set but not coloured. Leave cake to cool before cutting. May sprinkle with icing sugar before cutting.

Meet Dominica, born on 21st June 2009, Sunday. She is 5 1/2 " tall that hangs on my bag. She only has movable arms and legs. Isn't she a cutie pie. Choco, Peppermint and Tobie Bear

More of my furry critters here. Did 4 last week but manage to finish 3 that are here. My panda have to wait a little more as I do not have the big size joint. Will have to make a trip to spotlight again. So, here's CHOCO, 12 1/2 " tall. Love it's fuzzie fur that are thick but I find it difficult to sew due to its thick fur. Sometimes the joint lines were lost in the fur that I am like looking for a river in the forest. :) Choco has a tummy full of plastic pellets. Initially, I wanted to try using pvc leather for his toes but decided to just leave it like that for the time being. Maybe next week will sew his paw/foot??? still thinking...........

Peppermint is 9" tall with all 5 x 25cm cotter pins joints. His green sparse fur makes him light to hold and he has a tummy of plastic pellets. His paw/food pad are made from white felt. A brother of Minty from my previous fuzzy critters. Peppermint is a birthday bear for my twin nieces. Will be giving it to them once I have a "show and tell" during my bear making class this weekend.

Tobie is 10" tall with all 5 x 30cm cotter pins joints. His furry brown fur comes from a shop at Arab street. They have just 1/8 m left over of the fur which I bought for $5.00. He also has white faux fur which I should have used it for his muzzle, just like Choco (see above) but I didn't. His inner ear is from my left over white acrylic fur. Tobie will also go to my twin nieces for their birthday present next month. He is just waiting for "show and tell" during my weekend bear making class. Hope they like all my bears :)

Sold bear and re-thread necklace

This necklace is a re-thread. The beads were given to me in pieces and I do not have its original design. My girlfriend want it to be re-thread into a necklace so I have to re-design it. Extra beads were added to it so as to re-create the 1 brown beads in the center of the necklace.

This purple bear with cherry blossom print was just born today, 11 June 2009, Thursday around 9.45pm. This bear will be sold to June. Will give more update later. This bear weigh 270 gm and 12 1/2 " tall. I gave this bear an embroidery and heart-shaped buttons on its tummy so that it won't looked so plain on one side.

Minty Bear and Flopsie Bunny

Meet Minty Bear - born yesterday evening with Flopsie Bunny (see below). Minty is 10 1/2 inch tall. She loves orange, so I gave her a orange checkered ribbon. She is also wearing a necklace with a moon clip and red heart. Minty is so adorable and soft that she melts everyone's hearts.

This is Flopsie Bunny - 9 inch tall. Her name comes from Beatrix Potter, the tale of the flopsy bunny. Have you heard of the story? Looking at Flopsie wanna make me do more bunnies......hehehe
